What's Obama's Foreign Love Worth?
Europe doesn’t hate our president anymore, but its leaders are not being any more helpful.
This is a brilliant article by Jim Geraghty at National Review Online.

Obama agrees with Bush on detainees?

Wow Obama can pedal backwards almost as fast as he can get ridiculous legislation passed.
http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2009/02/20/obama-administration-affirms-bush-policy-detainee-rights/
Obama:
In a two-sentence court filing, department lawyers said the Obama administration agreed that detainees at Bagram Air Base cannot use U.S. courts to challenge their detentions. The filing shocked human rights attorneys.
After Obama took office, a federal judge in Washington gave the new administration a month to decide whether it wanted to stand by Bush's legal argument. Justice Department spokesman Dean Boyd says the filing speaks for itself.
"They've now embraced the Bush policy that you can create prisons outside the law," said Jonathan Hafetz, an attorney with the American Civil Liberties Union who has represented several detainees.
Well that's not going to sit well with the left. Change you can believe in? What's stranger is how he looked at this issue before he had someone open his eyes. The following was said just 19 days ago.
Obama:
"Can we guarantee that they're not going to try to participate in another attack? No," Obama said in an NBC interview that aired today.
"But what I can guarantee is that if we don't uphold our Constitution and our values, that over time that will make us less safe. And that will be a recruitment tool for organizations like al-Qaeda.""Is it going to be easy?" Obama said in the interview. "No, because we've got a couple hundred of hard-core militants that, unfortunately, because of ... problems that we had previously in gathering evidence, we may not be able to try in ordinary courts but we don't want to release."
"I have to make the very best judgments I can make in terms of what's going to keep the American people safe and ... what's going to uphold our Constitution and our traditions of due process," he said. "And what I'm convinced of is [that] we can balance those interests in a way that makes all of us proud, but also assures that we're not attacked."
So the best way to keep the American people safe, while at the same time, uphold the Constitution; is to JUST DO WHAT BUSH DID! Is it just me? I remember everyone on the Obama bandwagon criticizing Bush the entire time he was in office for his methods of dealing with the detainees. How quickly people forget. I wonder why this hasn't received much press?

CNBC's Rick Santelli Goes Off! This is what we need more of! Rick Santelli is the JAM!
There is little I have to say here. Just watch this clip. Rick lays it out in front, and the other reporters don't know what to do. There is no protocol for dealing with the TRUTH in the Mainstream Media, they just laugh and look troubled. Take a look.
Santelli: We're thinking of having a Chicago Tea Party in July. All you capitalists that want to show up to Lake Michigan, I'm going to start organizing.
Quick: What are you dumping in this time?
Santelli: We're going to be dumping in some derivative securities. What do you think about that?
This guy is great! I wish everyone could see this!

Obama, with problems in the Middle East.

Hamid Karzai has become increasingly vociferous in his criticism of American military tactics and has been making half-hearted threats to shift his allegiance to Moscow if he does not get his way.
Washington has yet to publicly declare its hand but a series of well-placed leaks, briefs and snubs have raised the prospect that it could move its support elsewhere in this year's presidential election.
One Afghan newspaper spoke of "a new cold war".
A senior Afghan government official says the new Obama administration has insulted President Karzai and one prominent MP accuses America of "running a shadow-government" .
The decline in relations began with a visit last year by Joe Biden, now the vice-president, to Kabul.
At the time, as the Democratic vice-presidential candidate, he attended a private meeting with Mr Karzai.
A well-placed source describes Mr Biden, exasperated at not getting "straight answers" on drugs and corruption, launching into a verbal tirade and storming out of the meeting.
In a country where honour and decorum are second only to God and country, this was less than tactful.
President Karzai has been holding a series of meetings with former Mujahedeen commanders in the past few weeks amid suggestions that he is trying to align the country with Russia.
That has certainly been his public stance. As well as a deliberately leaked "letter of understanding" with Moscow, President Karzai publicly warned America that unless it supplied the military hardware he wanted, he would look to other countries for support.
No-one was in a moment's doubt who this meant. The Russian ambassador, Zamir Kabulov, an old Afghan hand, was seen strutting around parliament last week.
He has warned that the US and Nato are repeating the same mistakes of the Soviet occupation of Afghanistan. As he was posted to the Soviet Embassy at the time, his opinion is worth considering.
Now President Karzai has sent a document to Nato outlining new "rules of engagement". If implemented they would substantially alter the mandate for foreign forces in the country.
It seems inconceivable that there could be a real and lasting schism between Kabul and Washington. It will be the job of Richard Holbrooke, the US Special Envoy for Afghanistan and Pakistan, to ensure that does not happen.
That’s not all though, the plot thickens…

Kyrgyzstan's parliament voted Thursday to close a key U.S. air base in the country — a move that could hamper President Barack Obama's efforts to increase the number of U.S. forces in Afghanistan.
Deputies voted 78-1 for the government-backed bill to cancel the lease agreement on the Manas air base, a transit point for 15,000 troops and 500 tons of cargo each month to and from Afghanistan. Two deputies abstained.
If President Kurmanbek Bakiyev signs the bill and Kyrgyz authorities issue an eviction notice, the United States will have 180 days to vacate the base.
"The decision to shut the American base reflects the will of the Kyrgyz people," said Nurbyubyu Kerimova, a deputy with the pro-government party that overwhelmingly dominates parliament in the former Soviet bloc nation.
Bakiyev unexpectedly called this month for the closure of Manas, complaining that the United States was not paying enough rent for the base.
His announcement of the base closure was made in Moscow, shortly after Russia offered his impoverished country $2.15 billion in aid and loans. Analysts say the closure and the aid appeared to be linked, although officials deny any connection.
However, Communist deputy Ishak Masaliyev said the decision on Manas could help improve ties between Kyrgyzstan and Russia.
"We in Kyrgyzstan do not need anybody else's base. We have always advocated a union with Russia," Masaliyev said.
Well there you have it folks. Obama, the genius that was going to make the entire world love us, is doing a great job. The Democrats with their brilliant selection of Vice President are not helping any. Biden is going over seas and pissing off the leaders of countries who were helping us, at least in part. I was under the impression that everyone was going to love us when Obama took office. I thought that everyone just hated Bush. The Democrats blamed Bush for every single problem we had worldwide. Why then is Obama loosing the support of Middle East nations, and why so quickly?
To get to the answer you have to look at who is watching this spectacle. In both of these cases who was the beneficiary? The Russians. That’s right, our good friends the Russians are benefiting from every misstep of the Obama Administration. I called this a long time ago. Obama is seen as a real push-over by Putin and the Russians. Moscow is going to take what it can, while most Americans are focused on our slide into socialism. Russia is looking to rebuild it’s old union and take back the land that once belonged to it. Putin also knows that Obama is going to do nothing to stop it. Add that with the fact Obama is weakening our country with every stroke of his pen. Why would the Russians not take this chance?

“Islam the Religion of Peace” Murder religious converts! Note: this is an old post from my original blog HaveABadDay on JournalSpace from 12/27/2006. Posted for Rob...
http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au
People of Indonesia are now experiencing what I have been predicting. They are the latest victims of the “Religion of Peace.” There are many sects of Islam. But the one most popular is also the most violent. I know that most Muslim groups say that they do not agree with the Wahhabi version of the Koran; however, if you research you will find that nearly all of the modern day forms of the Koran are based in part from the Wahhabi version. Most of the world’s supply of Korans come from Saudi Arabia. In Saudi Arabia the Wahhabi sect of Islam is the norm. Ibn Wahhab is one of the spiritual and political founders of the Kingdom of Saud.
When you hear about terrorists they are usually referred to as “extremists.” You have to think for a minute or this might trick you. Extremists, what does the word tell you. Well here is a breakdown from Merriam Webster for you. First you enter extremists, that leads you to extremism, which leads you to radicalism. Check out this definition of radical. Merriam - Webster. The definition says, “a root part”, “a basic principle.” The whole idea that these “radical” people are not following the Koran is absurd. The so called extremists are following the word of the Koran exactly. It is those who do not follow the Koran who are the “peaceful Muslims.” Even the “peaceful Muslims” still follow Sharia Law. The problem is not just with the Muslims that want to terrorize people, kill civilians, kill school kids, but all Muslims that believe in Sharia Law, which sadly is most of them.
Kamaruddin, an amiable, balding man with a pious goatee, is no extremist. He stresses the obligation of courtesy and good treatment that all humans owe to each other regardless of religion. And he wants Malaysia to evolve to a sharia state, not have it forced on the society.
He does not use the term "Arabisation" of Malaysian Islam, but, revealingly, he talks approvingly of the standardization of Islam, a beneficial consequence, he believes, of the information revolution. "Traditional Malay Islam is becoming more like international Islam," he says.

The key here is “international Islam.” The traditional Malay Islam is becoming more like “international Islam.” He also says that he doesn’t like the term “Arabisation.” So he is saying that the Arab form of Islam is the “international form of Islam” he speaks of. What you have to remember is that he is speaking of the same Wahhabi (from Saudi Arabia) belief that is intolerant of other religions, and other Muslims. So, it sounds like the hard-liners are having a large influence on one of the world’s largest Muslim populations.
For a system of law such as Sharia Law to take hold there must be a hard-line group of believers to push it. I know what you're thinking, “hard-line Muslims, never heard of that!” The pushing of Sharia Law is what is going on in Indonesia right now. There is a hard-line group pushing Sharia Law on people and there is nothing the Indonesian government is going to do about it. After all it’s in the Koran, remember, Sharia Law.

The problem lies more deeply than people have been willing to admit. I don't think that all Muslims are bad people. There are secular Muslims that do not hold the same far-out beliefs. They are hard to find now though, because the “true” believers have vowed destroy them. The fundamentalist Muslims have pledged to do so. You will be hard-pressed to hear anything positive from the Muslim religion as a whole, because if you talk of true peace, it might be the last thing you do.
The bottom line is that the religion of Islam as a whole is not "all" bad; consider though, the majority of those practicing Islam are of the “extremist” type. The extremist types are doing away with the peaceful Muslims. This is why the Islamic community has nothing to say when there is an attack in the name of their religion, and innocent people are killed. They are worried that the followers of “The Religion of Peace” are going to kill them next!
Remember, in the Middle East there is no "Radical Islam" there is only Islam.
